A minor who has been convicted of committing a crime by a judge

Refers to a person’s connection to a certain place. Usually encompasses family, employment, residency, or social and cultural activities that demonstrate stability and commitment to a community

Court-ordered requirements that a defendant must follow to be released from custody while their case is pending or after a conviction

Legal authority a court or government agency may exercise its power. Often temporal or geographical.

A law or rule that sets a specific time where certain individuals, often juveniles but also can be determined geographically, must be off the streets and in their homes.

Uses electronic devices, most often an ankle bracelet, to track and supervise individuals who are on house arrest, on probation, or on parole

Evidence found by the police that does not follow the rules around search and seizure cannot be used in court. They must have a reasonable expectation of privacy in the area searched or the items seized.  The violating must have been made by someone working for the government

A Law that provides legal protection from civil liability to individuals who voluntarily provide emergency assistance to someone in need in good faith. These laws are designed to encourage people to help others in emergencies without fear of consequences that may occur while providing aid.

An immediate and unavoidable danger that poses a significant risk of harm or injury.

Lack of mental or legal ability to understand and make responsible decisions. It is a formal court declaration, which can lead to a court-appointed guardian or conservator being given the authority to act on an individual’s behalf.

Prohibits a person from being in physical or verbal contact with another person, whether that be face-to-face or over the phone or internet. This order only occurs when an action has already taken place.
